1. Low Frame Rate Compensation (LFC)
Standard VESA Adaptive-Sync hardware scalers feature a minimum physical refresh threshold (typically 48 Hz). When game frame rates drop below 48 FPS, VRR scalers execute frame doubling or tripling (e.g., presenting 30 FPS at 60 Hz display refresh) to prevent panel flicker and retain fluid tear-free animation.
2. Micro-Stutter Variance (ms²)
Even when average frame rate appears high, frame pacing inconsistency (jitter between sequential frame presentation times) creates perceptible micro-stutter. Our engine measures real-time frame delta variance ($\sigma^2$) and tracks spikes exceeding 1.5x expected pacing.
