The ISO 9241-307 standard establishes formal benchmarks for ergonomic requirements and visual display unit defect tolerances across commercial LCD, OLED, and QD-OLED panels. A dead pixel occurs when a liquid crystal sub-pixel or organic light-emitting transistor remains permanently unpowered (Class 0 to Class 3 failure), resulting in a persistent black dot on white background fills.
